Reading Rainbow BINGO

Last week a Red Bingo card was sent home. Each time your child turns in the completed colored card (Books they read), they earn a jibbitz bracelet and a charm to add to the bracelet. In May, if your child has completed all Rainbow colored cards, they will get an INVITE to attend a SPECIAL PARTY!
This week we read these books in class! Feel free to check some spaces off your Bingo Card:

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
We will continue to practice writing two sentences in our journal! We will keep practicing how to use capital letters, spaces between words, and ending punctuation.  We are working hard to get all of our letters similar in size and sitting on line.

Phonics:
We will learn how to use and read our ABC Chart! This ABC Chart will help us with letter names and sounds. It will be a great resource for reading and writing!

Readers Workshop:
We will keep working on our unit Readers Can Read.... We will discuss the different things we can read from in Reader's Workshop (book bag books, SNAP Word Cards, ABC Chart, RaZZ Kids). We will learn and set expectations for personal reading and partner reading.

Math

In Math this week, we will continue diving deeper into our numeracy skills. This week we will focus on comparing numbers to 10. We will compare number, pictures, and amounts up to 10. We will also be able to identify the number that is 1 more and 1 less than a given number.

Science

Next week we will be learning about magnets and how they attract and repel.  We will demonstrate these forces though hands on activities such as:
How many objects the magnet can pick up and why?
What objects around the room are magnetic?
We will also go on a magnet scavenger hunt!

Scientist of the Week:
I am looking forward to our Scientist of the Week! All students will get an opportunity to share an experiment with their class throughout the year. I will send home information with the "Scientist" the Friday before the experiment is due.  Here are our scientist this week:
Zane (K3),  Emma (K1), and  Anna (K3)

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies we will be learn how to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. We will read the "The Flag We Love" and think about where we see the USA and Texas Flag.  This is how we demonstrate our patriotism.
