Veteran's Day

We are excited to acknowledge and celebrate our veterans next week. In lieu of a ceremony this year, our Cub Scouts from Pack 850 will greet our learners in the morning and several will help present on our morning announcements at 7:45 AM. Our morning announcements can be accessed using our KTEX Youtube Channel. Click here to access.

We also would love for you to email us pictures of any family or friends that are veterans in order for us to include them in our video. Please send any pictures to jmartin@coppellisd.com by noon on Wednesday, November 10th.

PTO Directory

We would love for you to stay involved with our PTO. By registering on the PTO website, you will gain access to our student directory. This is a great resource to help with having parent information for birthday party invitations and play dates too! Please click HERE for that!

Reading Rainbow BINGO

In October, a Red Bingo card was sent home. Each time your child turns in the completed colored card (Books they read), they earn a jibbitz bracelet and a charm to add to the bracelet. In May, if your child has completed all Rainbow colored cards, they will get an INVITE to attend a SPECIAL PARTY!
This week we read these books in class!

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
We will continue to practice writing two sentences in our journal! We will keep practicing how to use capital letters, spaces between words, and ending punctuation. We are working hard to get all of our letters similar in size and sitting on line.

Phonics:
We will begin to focus on the ending sounds of words! We have been working with CVC words (consonant, vowel,  consonant) and focusing on the beginning sounds! Now we will move to the ending sounds of words!

Readers Workshop:
Last week we learned how to read books on Raz Kids (an app on our I Pads)!! Yay!  Raz Kids or
Kids A to Z is a great way for students to read books on their levels!  I will send home your child's log in card today and they can show you how it works!  Right now we are only reading books in Reading and Level Up!

Math

In Math this week, we will continue diving deeper into our numeracy skills. This week we will focus on comparing numbers to 10. We will compare number, pictures, and amounts up to 10. We will also be able to identify the number that is 1 more and 1 less than a given number. We will learn that we can use number lines to help us with comparing numbers.

Science

Next week we will be discussing the patterns of the world such as Day / Night and the SKY.  We will observe objects in the sky and learn how they help us have recognizable patterns when the weather changes day to day and over seasons.

Scientist of the Week:
Our scientists this week did an awesome job!  We are having so much fun learning from our friends and doing fun experiments!

Social Studies

We are so proud of all the Kindergarten Kiddos for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.  We get to participate in saying the pledges every day during morning announcements.  Kindergarten will be responsible for morning announcements during the month of February and we will be able to recite the two pledges in front of TCE!
Next week we will be identifying contributions of Texas historical figures Stephen F. Austin and Jose' Antonio Navarro and how they were instrumental in changes for Texas.
