Lion's Club

Each year the Lions Club of Coppell provides holiday baskets and toys for families in the Coppell ISD attendance area. Last year Lion's Club provided a special Christmas for over 127 families and hundreds of children who might otherwise have gone without. The food baskets and toys are delivered by members of the Lions Club of Coppell, and the identity of the recipients is kept confidential. All Lion's Club needs need to know is the address and the family demographics, sizes, and any special needs the family may have. If your family would like to apply for a holiday basket and toys, please email Town Center's counselor, Kelly Matlock, at kmatlock@coppellisd.com.

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will continue our journal writing and also be working on writing about things we are THANKFUL for! Look for your child's "Thankful Journal" to come home on Friday to see all the things they are thankful for!

Reader's Workshop:
We will continue our unit on becoming SUPER READERS!! We will begin to learn about strategies readers can use to help them become better readers! We will practice reading leveled books and use Razz Kids to help us practice our reading super powers!
So far we have three super powers:
Pointer Power
Slider Power (sounding out words)
SNAP Word Power

Phonics:
We will continue focusing on the common sounds that letters represent!
We will get one new word this week: "little"
After that, we will review the 15 SNAP words we have learned so far!

Math

In Math this week, we will begin learning about composing and decomposing numbers! This means we will learn that numbers can be made and broken a part in many different ways! For example, the number 5 can be made up of 2 and 3, but it can also be made up of 4 and 1, or 5 and 0! This is a foundational math skill that will help us with our future addition and subtraction skills!

Social Studies

Thank you wonderful Parents for having your child participate in our Veterans Day Program.  It was GREAT!! This week in Social Studies, we will be learning about being Thankful, Turkeys, and Thanksgiving!
LOOK for information coming home this week about our Family Traditions!

Science

This week in Science, we will learn about recognizable patterns in the natural world.  We will recognize what kinds of objects can be seen in the sky in the day or at night, and observe and describe objects in the sky such as the clouds, Moon, and stars, including the sun.
