Writer's Workshop:
We will continue to practice writing two sentences in our journal! We will keep practicing how to use capital letters, spaces between words, and ending punctuation. We are working hard to get all of our letters similar in size and sitting on line.

Phonics:
We will continue to focus on the ending sounds of words! We have been working with CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant) and focusing on the beginning sounds! Now we will move to the ending sounds of words!

Readers Workshop:
We will keep practicing reading our book bag books,  SNAP Word Cards, and reading books in Raz Kids!
Please review all of our SNAP Words at home:
I, like, can, see, a, said, we, go, are, but,  not, am, the, little

Math

In Math this week, we will continue building our numeracy skills. This week we will be introduced to the skill of composing and decomposing numbers! This is SO exciting! We will learn about how we can break apart and put numbers together in different ways. For example, 5 can be broken a part into 1 and 4, but it can also be broken into 2 and 3.

Science

For the next couple of weeks, we will be observing weather. We will discuss day-to-day changes, patterns, and seasons. We will learn about Meteorologist and how they observe/forecast the weather. If possible, please share with your child, a weather report (news) where a Meteorologist predicts the weather.

Scientist of the Week:
Mrs. Brehm has really enjoyed "Scientist of the Week" experiments! I love how each "Scientist" explores their knowledge of Science and has such engaging experiments for us!! It is so fun to watch them present their experiments with such enthusiasm and excitement!! It makes me so happy to see these FUTURE Scientist at work!

Last week we learned how to read books on Raz Kids (an app on our I Pads)!! Yay!  Raz Kids or
Kids A to Z is a great way for students to read books on their levels!  I will send home your child's log in card today and they can show you how it works!  Right now we are only reading books in Reading and Level Up!

Math

In Math this week, we will continue diving deeper into our numeracy skills. This week we will focus on comparing numbers to 10. We will compare number, pictures, and amounts up to 10. We will also be able to identify the number that is 1 more and 1 less than a given number. We will learn that we can use number lines to help us with comparing numbers.

Science

Next week we will be discussing the patterns of the world such as Day / Night and the SKY.  We will observe objects in the sky and learn how they help us have recognizable patterns when the weather changes day to day and over seasons.

Scientist of the Week:
Our scientists this week did an awesome job!  We are having so much fun learning from our friends and doing fun experiments!

We are so proud of all the Kindergarten Kiddos for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.  We get to participate in saying the pledges every day during morning announcements.  Kindergarten will be responsible for morning announcements during the month of February and we will be able to recite the two pledges in front of TCE!
Next week we will be identifying contributions of Texas historical figures Stephen F. Austin and Jose' Antonio Navarro and how they were instrumental in changes for Texas.
