January 28th - February 1st

100th Day Song

Our Kindergarteners have been working hard to learn a song to celebrate our 100th Day. Check out the cute video below to see them!


What We're Working on This Week

Language Arts

We will start our week celebrating the 100th day of school!  We will write our 100 Wishes and complete some other fun activities!  We will also read some books,  discuss, and write about  Groundhog Day just for fun!



We will continue to use our  personal writing checklists that we glue in our journal each day! After writing in our journal we complete the checklists so that we are sure we have done everything we needed to do!

We will also begin our next reading unit called
Bigger Books:  Bigger Reading Muscles!

We will keep practicing our reading strategies and super powers during readers workshop and on Razz Kids too!  




Social Studies

This week we will wrap up our unit in Social Studies that focuses on Cultures, Traditions, and Celebrations: How we Live and Celebrate!
We will continue to learn about some other Famous Americans that have helped to shape our country. 



Math

We are so excited to be celebrating our 100th Day of School this week! We will be doing many fun 100th Day activities in math. We would love for you to practice counting to 100 with your child as well! 



Science

This week, we will be soil scientists as we study all about soil! We will learn to sort and classify soil. We will also learn about the many different ways we use soil every day! We can't wait to visit our TCE Garden to see soil up close! 




Terrific Tiny Texans:

Tiny Texans are BACK!  We are so proud of these students for going above and beyond this week to show great citizenship qualities and kindness at TCE!  Tiny Texans get to be the line leader for our class each week and show us how to be a good example to others!  Here are this weeks Tiny Texans:

100th Day of School

Monday, January 28th, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school! We will have several fun 100th Day stations all day long- and even a special 100th day snack! We are asking that each kindergartner bring in their own collection of 100 to share on our Wall of 100. Notes about this went home earlier in the week, so please e-mail your child's teacher if you need one.

Please return the collections on or before Monday January 28th! 

Also, your child is welcome to wear any special 100th Day shirts or hats! 

Spring Creek Spirit Night!

We will have our annual Lewisville Spring Creek Barbecue Spirit Night Monday, January 28th from 5-9PM. Come join us for fabulous food and socializing with all your favorite TCE friends and teachers. Spring Creek will donate 20% of all the evening's proceeds to our school. Also, the class with the best attendance will win a special prize!

Keep Reading and recording your hours so that you can earn a free ticket to Six Flags over Texas this summer! Return Book Logs as soon as you have completed your hours!

What We're Working on This Week

Language Arts

We will continue to use our  personal writing checklists that we glue in our journal each day! After writing in our journal we complete the checklists so that we are sure we have done everything we needed to do! We added a journal entry to SeeSaw this week so you can see how far we have come! We will keep adding more entries so you can see our growth and progress!

why we celebrate him in January each year! 



Math

Now that we are experts at reading, writing, and representing our teen numbers, we will be ordering and comparing them! This means being able to tell which number is greater or less, plus being able to put them in order correctly.
 These are a few of the fun songs we sing in class if you would like to sing them at home! (We especially love counting to 100!)




Science

This week, we will be geologists as we continue to study all about rocks! We will learn about how we can sort rocks according to their physical properties (size, shape, color, texture, and weight). We will also learn about how rocks are a natural resource we use every day!

It's that time of year to purchase a yearbook for your child. Yearbook cost was not part of the Trailpass this year, so the only way to purchase is through balfour.com at a cost of $25.

What We're Working on This Week:

Language Arts

We are doing an awesome job writing in our journals and have continued to discuss our
Writing Checklist.  This week we got personal writing checklists that we glue in our journal each day!  After writing in our journal we complete the checklists so that we are sure we have done everything we needed to do!  We will add a journal entry to SeeSaw this week so you can see how far we have come!  Be on the lookout!

We will also keep practicing our reading skills!  Our Superhero Super Reader has taught us about 6 Super Reading Powers that we can all use to help us read!  We have two more to learn!
 Keep reading those book bags at home! 

Social Studies

This week we will continue our unit in Social Studies that focuses on Cultures, Traditions, and Celebrations: How we Live and Celebrate!

Each week we will be spotlighting a special TCE Tiny Texan from each class. This is someone who we've seen going above and beyond and doing a fabulous job in class! They will get to be our line leader for the week, and they will get to fill out a STAR STUDENT poster to share during family meetings. This weeks Texans are:
