Canned Food / Toy Drive

Lion's Club

Each year the Lions Club of Coppell provides holiday baskets and toys for families in the Coppell ISD attendance area. Last year Lion's Club provided a special Christmas for over 127 families and hundreds of children who might otherwise have gone without. The food baskets and toys are delivered by members of the Lions Club of Coppell, and the identity of the recipients is kept confidential. All Lion's Club needs need to know is the address and the family demographics, sizes, and any special needs the family may have. If your family would like to apply for a holiday basket and toys, please email Town Center's counselor, Kelly Matlock, at kmatlock@coppellisd.com.

Library Books

Please return library books every Monday so your child can get a new book to take home!

Library Volunteers

Interested in volunteering in our TCE Library? Mrs. Mancuso would love to have you! If you are interested, please use the sign ups below to sign up for a time to volunteer:

Coats and Winter Wear

As the weather turns colder and students are needing coats for recess we would ask a few things:
Please put your child's name or initials in coats, hats, mittens, etc... These items get misplaced often and it is so helpful if there is a name inside so we can get it back to the correct friend!
Next, please practice with your child putting their winter coats / jackets on and zipping or buttoning them independently.  While we are MORE than happy to help with the zipping and buttoning, etc... the more friends that can do it by themselves the more time we get out on the playground rather than getting zipped, buttoned, and dressed for the weather!  We would so appreciate your help!

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will keep working hard on writing in our journals and adding more sentences to a single topic!  We will try to take some photos of our journal writing on on our school I Pads so you can see how far we have come!

Reader's Workshop:
This week in Reader's workshop we will continue our unit on becoming super readers!  So far we have learned how to use: Pointer Power, Slider Power, and SNAP word Power!  We are becoming such great readers!
We will also be reading books and doing some fun activities with The Gingerbread Man!

Phonics:
This week in phonics we will be focusing on beginning and ending sounds of words (single consonant sounds). We will listen to the way words sound and see if we can identify and write beginning and ending sounds.

Math

In Math this week, we will  be learning all about subtraction! We will learn different strategies for subtracting such as using counters, drawing pictures, using a number line, and even using our fingers. We will also use these skills to start solving story problems. We will play some fun games and stations to practice all of our super subtracting skills!

Social Studies

In Social Studies, we will recognize and celebrate the diversity in our classroom by sharing your family traditions.  We cannot wait to see and learn ALL about our Kindergarten Friends.  Thank you to all the families that have submitted their Family Traditions Video. They are wonderful!  I can't wait to share with Kindergarten!  If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact me at lbrehm@coppellisd.com.   We will begin watching on Monday.

Science

In Science, we will be exploring the four different seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall).  We will learn about the pattern order of the seasons, objects in the sky for each season, and describe how weather changes with each season.
