Kindergarten Down on the Farm Day

We are SO excited for our Kindergarten "Come to you" Field Trip on May 6th! We will be having a Kindergarten Day on the Farm complete with a petting zoo! Please send in your signed permission slip and $10 so your child can participate in this fun event!

End of Year Conferences and Summer Practice

As the end of the school year is approaching, we would like to let you know that if you would like a conference with your child's teacher, you may reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are happy to meet with you via Zoom, Phone, E-mail, or in person. Before the end of the year, we will send home a list of activities to enhance skills during the summer that will benefit all students! IStation, Dreambox, and Raz-Kids will all be available throughout the summer as well! More information about apps and websites to use over the summer (including usernames and passwords) will be coming!

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will begin reviewing all the different types of writing we have done over the year! We will be making "mini books" of our writing and will learn how to edit and revise our work! 

Reading Workshop:
We will discuss and learn about non-fiction books and compare fiction and non-fiction works on similar topics!  We will be reading some books about farms and farm life and animals that live on a farm in order to help us focus on NON-FICTION writing! 


Math

In Math this week, we will be wrapping up our Geometry unit! This week will continue learning all about 3D shapes. We will learn that 3D shapes have faces, edges, and vertices. We will learn the names of different 3D shapes, and we will be able to tell about real world examples of each type of shape we learn about.

We will be creating a 3D shape museum next Friday, April 29th!  Please have your child bring in a 3D object representing either a sphere, cone, cylinder, or cube. Please do not send anything valuable, and  please label it with your child's name. We will return all objects at the conclusion on our shape museum! 



Social Studies

In Social Studies we will be working on our Citizenship Goals. We will focus on bravery, honesty, effort, and kindness. We will become experts about these character qualities and how to demonstrate them.


Science

In Science  this week we will be continuing our learning all about Habitats! We will learn about the different types of habitats that each animal lives in. We will learn about how habitats provide what an animal needs.

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will wrap up our unit on Opinion Writing! We have had a great time learning how to share our thoughts, ideas, feelings, and preferences. 

Reading Workshop / Phonics:
We will complete our unit on Poetry! We will read a few more poetry books and find the beat, rhythm, and meter in different types of poems. We will also be listening for rhyming words and word families!


Math

In Social studies this week, we will be celebrating Earth Day! We will create some fun Earth Day crafts and learn about ways that we can care for our Earth.

In Science this week, we will be learning all about animal habitats. We will learn that animals have their basic needs met by what is in their habitat. We will learn which animals live in which types of habitats.

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will continue our new unit on Opinion Writing! We will learn how to share our thoughts and ideas and give reasons to back them up! We have been reading fiction, non-fiction,  and poetry on cats and dogs and we are getting ready to give our opinion on the "best pet." 

Reading Workshop / Phonics:
We will continue our unit on Poetry! We will keep reading poetry books and finding the beat, rhythm, and meter in different types of poems. We will also be listening for rhyming words and word families!


Math

In Math this week, we will be beginning our Geometry unit! We will spend this week reviewing our 2D shapes and their attributes. We will be able to sort and classify shapes according to their different attributes. We will celebrate all of our learning at the end of the week by create a scrumptious SHAPE pizzeria! 


Social Studies

In Social studies this week, we will begin learning about different types of landforms and bodies of water. We will learn about Earth's resources and weather while also using different map tools and globes.


Science

In Science this week, we will be diving deep into our Life Science unit. We will begin learning about animals and their physical characteristics. We will learn about different animal coverings and how they keep each animal safe. We will become experts at sorting by different animal coverings such as fur, scales, feathers, etc.

In Social studies this week, we will continue with learning all about geography and maps! This week we will become experts at using a compass rose! We will be able to identify North, South, East, and West by playing some fun games! 



Science

In Science this week, we will be focusing on living things. We will learn that living things produce offspring, and how those offspring resemble their parents. We will learn about specific needs of living things, and we will discuss how animals survive in the wild.
