Important Information:

Library Books and Book Bags

Please return Book Bags and Library books on Tuesday this week so your child can get a new book to take home!

Coats and Winter Wear

As the weather turns colder and students are needing coats for recess we would ask a few things:
Please put your child's name or initials in coats, hats, mittens, etc... These items get misplaced often and it is so helpful if there is a name inside so we can get it back to the correct friend!
Next, please practice with your child putting their winter coats / jackets on and zipping or buttoning them independently. While we are MORE than happy to help with the zipping and buttoning, etc... the more friends that can do it by themselves the more time we get out on the playground rather than getting zipped, buttoned, and dressed for the weather! We would so appreciate your help!

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will continue to work on our new lined paper and add more details to our writing.  We are still working hard to sound out words that are unfamiliar and spell phonetically.  We will also focus on using a checklist to help us remember to start with a capital, leave finger spaces, and put punctuation at the end of our sentences!

Reader's Workshop:
This week in Reader's workshop we will continue our unit on becoming super readers! So far we have learned how to use: Pointer Power, Slider Power, and SNAP word Power! Last week we got THINK Power and this week we are going to learn about Fix It Power.  We will discuss how to go back and reread to make sure words and sentences make sense and "fix it" when they don't!

Phonics:
This week in phonics we will review segmenting and breaking apart and blending together CVC words.  We will continue to review all the common sounds that letters make!  We will keep working on our SNAP Words and adding more and more to our list!

Math

In Math this week, we will be representing our teen numbers in many ways! We will learn that our teen numbers can be shown in so many ways - pictures, words, tally marks, ten frames, number lines, and SO many more! In Math Workshop we will do many fun, hands-on stations to practice representing our numbers in many different ways!

Social Studies

In Social Studies, the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing how we can be Friends! We will be participating in some fun activities to show how we LOVE and appreciate our Friends! We will continue to work on our Handwriting Skills with our Handwriting Without Tears Book.

Science

Next week in Science, we will be starting a new unit on Earth Materials (Rocks, Soil, Water). We will begin with learning about Rocks by observing, comparing, and sorting rocks (size, shape, color and texture). We will describe physical properties, and how useful earth materials, such as rocks can be. If your child would like to bring 1-2 rocks from home, please put in a baggie with their name.
