Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will continue writing sentences in our journals!
We are working on adding more than one sentence on a single topic!
We are practicing becoming brave spellers to hear and record the sounds we find in words!
We will also get two new snap words: "go" and "but."
A complete list of the SNAP Words we have learned so far is coming home ASAP!

Reader's Workshop:
We will finish up our unit on rereading and looking closely at books to learn and notice more.
We will also keep reading some fun books about fall, pumpkins, and Halloween.

Phonics:
We will continue focusing on the common sounds that letters represent! We have also been discussing and learning about syllables in words too! We will continue to practice "chopping" up our words to hear the syllables and to divide the body and coda of words!

Math

In Math this week, we will continue building on our numeracy skills! We will continue on what we started last week with this week reading, writing, and representing our numbers through 10. We will learn the correct way to write each number. We will also be able to represent numbers in SO many ways: ten frames, pictures, tally marks, number lines, and MORE! To make this week extra fun, we will do some FUN FALL math stations to practice these skills!

Social Studies

In Social Studies this week, we will be learning about traditions with pumpkins and how we celebrate this time of the year.  We will learn all about the foods we can create with pumpkins,  how to visit a pumpkin patch, and listen to pumpkin stories!

Our Pet Parade was so cute!  Please look for slide show later this week of our Pet Parade and Sleep Over!   We will be picking up our stuffed animals from the library on Monday during our Library time.  Please make sure your child has turned in their Library book, so they can check out  a new book!  Thank you everyone for participating!  It was such a fun experience!

Science

In Science this week, we will be studying all about pumpkins!  We will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin, observe pumpkins inside and out, and participate in pumpkin experiments.   We will learn about bat life cycle, and spiders too!  I am so excited to began our Scientist of the Week. Each week a student will have the opportunity to present a Science Experiment to their class.  I love watching them being little Scientists!

Great job to this week's scientists!
