What We're Working on This Week:
Language Arts
This week we will are introducing Readers Workshop! We have been talking about this in class and we are getting ready to start up our workshop! The kids will really enjoy this time! We will talk about different ways you can read a book (read the pictures, read the words, retell a familiar story) as well as learn how to build stamina in our reading!
We will also learn two new word wall words: "am" and "not."
We will keep practicing our writing in our journals! We are doing great! We are working on writing two sentences on a single topic, starting with a capital, ending with a period, and sounding out new words! We are doing awesome!

Social Studies
We are continuing our new unit called: Our Country, the Land We Love!
We will continue learning about our country, the United States of America! This week we will talk about some symbols of the USA!
Math
In Math this week, we will be starting our next big unit. We will be learning numeracy for the numbers 6 - 10. This means learning to write, count and represent these numbers. We will be doing many fun games and stations to practice and learn these skills!
Science
In Science this week we will be learning all about energy! We will learn about sound, light, and thermal energy. We will explore each of these types of energy in many fun, hands on ways!

Terrific Tiny Texans:
Each week we will be spotlighting a special TCE Tiny Texan from each class. This is someone who we've seen going above and beyond and doing a fabulous job in class! They will get to be our line leader for the week, and they will get to fill out a STAR STUDENT poster to share during family meetings. This weeks texans are:

Metrocrest Food Drive
Our TCE student council is partnering with Metrocrest Services to provide food donations for local families and senior citizens. The food drive will run October 9th-19th. Thank you for your generous hearts!
Kinder - "Garden"
We are so excited about doing some hands-on learning out in our TCE Garden and community garden. We are planning our first "Kinder-Garden" day on October 26th. We will spend some time in station rotations planting new seeds in our TCE Garden Bed, watering the garden, reading books about the garden, and visiting our community garden.

Pumpkin Fun!
We are collecting tiny pumpkins for an upcoming math and science unit! If you are willing, we would love for you to send in some of the tiny pumpkins. We have bought them at Trader Joes, Tom Thumb, etc. Thank you so much for your support!
