April 15th - 19th

What We're Working on This Week

Language Arts:

This week we will continue our unit on Poetry! We will be reading some poems and poetry books
as well as illustrating some poems of our own! We may even write a poem or two!

We will also learn our last 2 word wall words:
"has" and "at"
Next week we will have a 40 WORD WALL WORDS CELEBRATION!
Keep working on those words at home too! See if you can
read them and write them or make flash cards!

Social Studies:

We will begin a new unit on Economics!
We will be learning about our needs and wants and identifying examples of each!

Math

In Math this week, we will be continuing to explore 3D solid shapes. We will do math stations to explore 3D shapes and identify their attribute (faces, edges, and vertices). We will also be on the hunt for real life examples of 3D shapes. Encourage your children to see if they can find real world shapes when your are driving in the car, at the dinner table, or playing outside!

Science

In science, we will be learning about the needs of plants. We will take a trip to our school garden to see just how all of our plants are having their needs met. We will also be celebrating Earth Day! We can't wait to learn about ways to help take care of our Earth!

Terrific Tiny Texans:

Spring Conferences

It is hard to believe that we are already in our last nine weeks of the school year. Time has flown by so quickly with these amazing learners!

The district is unable to set aside a day for spring parent / teacher conferences, but we are happy to make time to answer any questions or concerns you may have. You recently received your learner's third nine weeks report card, which provided you with an update on how your learner is doing in class. We will also be sending home your learner's end of year assessment summary sheet; along with a summer packet of resources and ways to support your learner over the break. The assessment summary sheet will show you their current levels in both Language Arts and Math as well as the benchmark. This will show you your students growth and progress throughout the school year!

If you would like to discuss any questions or concerns regarding your learner and would like a conference (via email, phone or face-to-face) please email your child's homeroom teacher. What a JOY it has been to have these learners this year! *We are unable to discuss 1st grade class placements for next school year. Please keep questions related to your learner's academic and emotional growth from the 2018-2019 school year.*
