Language Arts / Social Studies

This week in LA / SS we will celebrating the holiday of Valentine's Day!  We will write about friendship and love in our journals and share some letters to friends! We will learn two new word wall words:  "of" and "that."  We are really working on using our strategies when we are reading so please look over the strategies in the book bag folders and help with those when reading at home too! Happy Valentine's Day!

Math

This week we will be continuing our studies on measurement. We will be learning and exploring stations focusing on length, weight and capacity. We will continue to focus on measuring objects using nonstandard units of measurement (no rulers/ things with numbers).  

Our vocabulary words will be:  length, capacity, weight, more, less, attribute, longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, and compare.  

Science

We are going to continue our study on hibernation, adaptation and migration. We will be using what we know about different weather patterns and how it affects different animals. We will be learning about how animals prepare for the changes that come with weather change.  We will draw on our prior knowledge of the needs of living things to help us understand what animals do while hibernating!

Dental Hygiene Program

Today we had Dr. Rozas' team come in to talk to all of our kindergarteners about the importance of taking care of our teeth and making good choices to help keep our teeth and bodies healthy! We had so much fun watching an participating in the program! I hope you enjoy some of the pictures that we took during the program!
