Kindergarten News: November 14th-November 18th

What we’re
Workin’ on this week..
Language Arts / Social Studies
We will continue our unit on Thanksgiving!  We have been learning about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans and their journey together.    We are continuing our research rotations this week as we  learn more about the first Thanksgiving!
We will also continue to work on using our journal checklist in our writing.
Lastly we will review all the word wall words we have learned so far and play catch up on a few we got behind on!  Thanks so much for sending your item for our Feast on Friday!  We are so excited to celebrate all we have learned!

Math

This week we will be working on learning all about Money. We will be working on recognizing the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. We will be learning cute poems to help us remember the coins names and amounts!

Check out this cute video that tells about all of the coins!

Continue to work on composing and decomposing numbers at home!!
As a challenge, click here to decompose numbers at home!

Every learner needs a empty paper towel roll for what we will be doing. If you have not brought one in, please do so by next week. ( We are going to be making a scroll that they will get to build onto as they write larger number amounts! Every year, once the pattern is seen, the kiddos just take off! I cannot wait to show you how high your child will be able to write! )

Thank you to those who have sent in a video counting in a different language! We hope to get more videos in!! Click on the hotspot circle links on the map below!

If you would still like to participate in our counting challenge, have your mom or dad tape you and send it to either Mrs. McKinney or Mrs. Brehm. Please include the region of where your language is from, as we are making a link to that place in the world!
***Example: Hi my name is _______. I am going to count to 10 in Chinese. (Then you would count slowly so others will be able to learn from you!)
We cannot wait to get in the videos, put them on our world map and learn from you!

Science

This week in science we will be taking the information that we research about plants through the seasons and turn it into a digital storybook! We cannot wait for you to see our final product!
