Kindergarten News: April 4th- April 8th

What we’re
Workin’ on this week..

Language Arts

We will be continue writing in our new journals! Our new journals have lines, so the kiddos will be working on a variety of skills during our journal time! Be watching on SeeSaw for a few examples!
This week we will be learning our new word wall words: "do" and "here". Continue to practice spelling and writing our work wall words to help in both reading and writing!

Book Bags came home this week with homework! Thank you to everyone who sent back the homework with your child! Remember that book bags will come home at the beginning of each week and then returned on Friday. (with the homework in the book bag)

Math

We have started our studies on addition. We have been learning about different strategies as well as words to look for/ listen for to help us know that we are needing to add! We will continue to learn and practice new strategies to find which each learner feels most comfortable with when adding! Be sure to ask your child which strategy they like the most!
Please remember that reflex math is a great tool to use at home for your child to work on their fact fluency. Please be sure to have your child do the work, because when they pass a level, they move onto a harder level.  If your child becomes frustrated, you can always work on fact fluency with a paper and pencil. This way they can practice strategies learned in the classroom until they can see the patterns.
*If you need the login information again for reflex math, please email me @ kmckinney@coppellisd.com and I will be happy to send that to you!

Science / Social Studies

In Science, we will continue studying the life cycle of a Chick and Oviparous Animals.  The eggs would have been in the incubator for 11 Days (Friday).  Next week, we will candle eggs to look for signs of chicks.  We will also predict what will happen to an egg when it is put in vinegar, coke, or salt water .  Will is Sink or Float?   The web cam is set up for you to start viewing from home.  The links is listed below.

When using the link, you will need to create a "Free" account or log into Facebook account.

In Social Studies, we will continue working on Mapping Skills by researching Pebblego and Brainpop Jr. for Globes, Maps, Symbols, and Keys to help us learn more about Maps.  We will make a flip book of vocabulary words, and a book about Maps.   There are many fun games on the I pads that we will be using to help us make connections.
