Kindergarten News: March 21- March 25

What we’re
Workin’ on this week..

Language Arts

Kindergarten learners have done such an amazing job with their writing so far this year! We are so impressed with how far they have already come this year! Be sure to look through the journal we sent home before Spring Break to see your child's progress!
We will be working on our writing in our new journals! Our new journals have lines, so the kiddos will be working on a variety of skills during our journal time! Be watching on SeeSaw for a few examples!
This week we will be learning our new word wall words: of and that. Continue to practice spelling and writing our work wall words to help in both reading and writing!

Book Bags will be coming home on Monday! Be sure to look in the book bag for homework that will go along with the books being read!

Math

We will be wrapping up measuring weight and starting to measure capacity. We will be looking at which containers hold more or less and why. After we have a concept of measuring capacity, learners will work together to find out how much each container will hold and compare it to the other containers in the classroom. We will be looking at the data we collect and writing about our findings!

*Please remember that in kindergarten, it is all about nonstandard units of measurement.

Science / Social Studies

In Science, we will be studying the life cycle of a chick! We will be incubating eggs and setting up a web cam for you to watch from home! For the 21 days that they chicks are incubating, the kiddos will be learning all about chicks as well as researching some of the questions they might have. Be thinking of things that you already know and some questions about want you want to know about chicks and their life cycle!

In Social Studies, we will be working on Mapping Skills! This is a time that we will be learning all about maps and how we can use them! Some of the vocabulary we will be focusing on is over, under, near, far, left and right to be describe a location!
