What we’re
Workin’ on
next week..
Language
Arts
This week in Language Arts we will be practicing our reading
and writing skills in some new learning stations! Our “Total Turkey Rotations” will be up and
running by Wednesday of this week! Ask you
kiddos what station they visited!
We will also learn two new word wall words: "the" and
"little." (We did not quite get to these last week.) Book bags are going great! Thanks so much for
reading at home!
Math
We will start our study of
composing and decomposing numbers. We are focusing on numbers 1-10 right now
and we will be moving to numbers 1-20 for a challenge when needed! We are
starting out using our tens frame to help us see that numbers can be broken up
and made by two or more other numbers. Be on the lookout-- your child will be
bringing home some papers with number bonds! I cannot wait for you to see their
smart thinking!
We will also continue to
work on our counting skills! Your child should be able to count to at least 25
and we are now working on counting to 50. We are also working on counting by
tens starting anywhere! They have been doing a wonderful job with this! I am
truly blown away with how quickly they are picking up the patterns in numbers! (
Example: counting by 10's starting at 8: 8, 18,2 8, 38, 48....)
Science / Social Studies
In
Science we will be learning about the properties of living and
nonliving organisms. We will compare and
contrast. Please make sure that your
child has done their flipped classroom homework by watching the video that was
sent out earlier this week. If you need
the info on the video link again please e.mail Mrs. Brehm at lbrehm@coppellisd.com
In Social Studies we are continuing
our unit on Families and relationships by learning about the Native Americans
and the Pilgrims. We will learn about
their relationships and compare our Thanksgiving Traditions today to
Thanksgiving Traditions of the past. We
will have fun rotations to help us in our learning!

a.m. If you are a veteran or a current member of any branch of the U.S.
Military please be on the look for more information to come home soon! We would
love to honor you! Even if you have not been in the military you are
welcome to join us for the special event!
Thank you
so much to everyone who donated jeans for our Sole Hope shoe project! Now that
we have collected our materials, we are looking
for volunteers to come and help us trace and cut the denim into
squares. Once the squares are made and put into pairs, we can ship them off to
be made into shoes! Kindergarten is teaming up with the Fashion Club during
Texan Town. If you would like to volunteer to help trace and cut, please bring
fabric scissors on Friday,
November 13th from 8:00-8:50. Thank you so much!! Kindergarten
cannot wait to make a difference for other kids just like them that do not have
shoes!
CISD is collecting frozen turkeys!! All turkeys can be dropped off in
the car loop line on the morning of Friday, November 20th! More information is
coming soon!
Our second grade learners are
also hosting a Canned
Food Drive. All food collected will be donated to a local
food pantry at Thanksgiving. Please send in a few canned goods to help!
All items
for the Thanksgiving Feast should be brought to your child’s classroom
by November 19th. Our feast will be held on the 20th
during lunch so you will not need to send a lunch that day unless your child
does not like what’s on our Thanksgiving menu. J
There will be NO SCHOOL the week of November 23rd -
November 27th!
Enjoy a week off to celebrate Thanksgiving! :)
A
huge Thank you
to all of the Families that participated in our Spring Creek BBQ Night! It was
a huge success and so much fun to see everyone outside of school!
The weather
is turning much colder. Please don’t forget to send coats to school for
recess. CISD policy states that we will go outside for recess unless the
temperature is below 32 degrees (with the wind chill).
Don’t forget
to write your child’s name in the label of their jacket as many coats end
up in Lost and Found. If it has a name on it, it is much easier to find
the owner. Thank you!
Also a big Congratulations to Mrs. Brehm’s class, K3! They gave the most donations in kindergarten
to our JDFR Run! Yay K3!!
