Kindergarten News November 16th - November 20th

What we’re

      Workin’ on next week..

Language Arts

This week in Language Arts we will continue to practice our reading and writing skills in  our “Total Turkey Rotations”   Ask you kiddos what station they visited!   When we are done we will make a Turkey Folder to put all of our work in! It will come home this week! We will review all the word wall words we have learned so far, no new words this week!

Math

We will continue our study of composing and decomposing numbers. We are focusing on numbers 1-10 right now and we will be moving to numbers 1-20 for a challenge when needed! We will continue using our tens frame to help us see that numbers can be broken up and made by two or more other numbers.

We will also continue to work on our counting skills! Your child should be able to count to at least 25 and we are now working on counting to 50. We are also working on counting by tens starting anywhere!

Science / Social Studies

In Science we will be continue our study of living and nonliving organisms.  We will focus on living things (plants and animals) and their basic needs.

In Social Studies we are continuing our unit on Families and relationships by learning about the Native Americans and the Pilgrims.  We will learn about their relationships and compare our Thanksgiving Traditions today to Thanksgiving Traditions of the past.  We will continue our rotations! We are having a great time!

All items for the Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast should be brought to your child’s classroom by Thursday, November 19th.   Our feast will be held on the 20th during lunch so you will not need to send a lunch that day unless your child does not like what’s on our Thanksgiving menu. J
