ABC Countdown

We can't believe our final days of Kindergarten are approaching!! To celebrate the end of the year, we will be doing an ABC Countdown to the last day of school! Each day will be a different letter and different fun activity to celebrate all of our fun times in Kindergarten!!

TCE Terrific Texans

We have started a school-wide recognition called Terrific Texan. Throughout the week the learners can earn a Terrific Texan Ticket for outstanding citizenship, leadership and behavior from any teacher in the school. Each time that they earn a ticket they add it to our Kindergarten box. At the end of the day on Friday, Ms. Martin will draw 3 names from each grade to read over the announcements! A new round of earning tickets will begin next week! Keep up the great work!

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will finish up our word folders and add a few last entries to our writing folders!  I am so proud of how far everyone has come this year!!

Reader's Workshop:
This week in Reader's workshop we will continue to read a picture book each day to go with our letter of the day from end of kindergarten ABC countdown!
We will also continue working on our reading workshop stations and building stamina in our reading! Keep reading at home and check out the Cozby Public Library too!

Phonics Workshop and SNAP Words:
This week we will continue to review beginning and ending sounds in words and then begin our review of middle vowel sounds as well! Students will also continue learning our high frequency words and will add some more to our list! Here is a list you can use over the summer and for the remainder of the school year to practice and learn high frequency "SNAP" Words.

Math

In Math this week, we will be continuing our unit all about measurement! We will be introduced to measuring length, width, and capacity. This week we will focus on measuring weight! We will use the words heavier and lighter to compare weight. We will learn how to use balances and scales to measure weight, and we will even make our own balances to take home to practice measuring weight!

Social Studies

In Social Studies this week, we will finish our unit on Needs and Wants. We will discuss ways to meet the needs of others, and the wants we can live without.

Science

In our final unit of Science....we will be studying about Plants.  We will be able to sort plants based on their physical characteristics.  We will identify basic parts of a plant by their root, stem, leaf, and flower.  We will recognize how young plants (just like animals) grow to resemble their parent plants. We will learn about the life cycle of a plant, which  includes the seed to seedling to plant to flower to producing fruit.
