March 7th - 11th




Calendar Dates:

March 7th - 11th -Book Fair in the Library (see below!)
March 10th - Open House from 5:30 - 6:30pm
Friday, March 11th - Early Release at 12:30 p.m.
March 14th - 18th - SPRING BREAK!
Friday, April 15th - will now be a regular school day!
We will use this day to make up for our ice day on 2/24!


Important Information

Book Bags / Library Books

Due to the book fair being set up in the library, your child will not be checking out a new  library book. They are welcome to keep the one they have now. New Book Bags will come home on Monday, March 7th.  Please return book bags on Friday, March 11th! 

Book Fair

The Book Fair will be from Monday March 7th - Friday, March 11th. 
Parents are invited to shop with their children before school Monday - Friday from 7:20-7:40 a.m. and after school Monday - Thursday from 3:00-3:30 p.m. 
Learners who are shopping independently will shop during their recess.
The book fair will be open during Open House on Thursday, March 10th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. 

We encourage you to use the eWallet feature. Instead of sending cash with your children, you can create an eWallet account and place a predetermined amount of money on the account for your children to shop the in person fair. Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's Workshop we will wrap up our "HOW TO" writing. We will be getting our Writing folders ready to share with you at Open House!  Please come see the great writing we have been doing! 

Phonics:
We will review all the common sounds that letters represent.
We will review short vowel sounds.
We will review the "H Brothers" digraphs
ch, th, wh, sh

Readers Workshop:
In Reader's Workshop we will continue our new unit on becoming AVID Readers! Thank you so much for reading the book bag books at home! This makes a huge difference in your child's reading confidence!  


Math

In Math this week, we will be having some fun with Graphing! We will all be campers at "Camp Graph-A-Lot" as we learn about different types of graphs, how to organize data, and how to analyze data! We can't wait to show off our work at Open House!


Social Studies

In Social Studies, we will be exploring Maps and Globes and how useful these geographic tools are. We will use them to help identify states, water, land, continents, etc. We will also be learning how to use a map key and vocabulary.


Science

In science this week, we will be learning about adult and baby animals and their characteristics/traits. How are they the same and different? Beginning Intro in Living and Non-Living Things.
