Important Information:

Book Bags / Library Books

Don't forget to return your book bags and library books on Tuesday! The learners will not be visiting the library until Monday,  January 24th, but feel free to go ahead and send in your child's book. 
We will also be sending new reading book bags home on Tuesday! Please keep reading these books with your child each night and return them on Fridays! Happy Reading!

Take a Peek at our Week

Language Arts

Writer's Workshop:
This week in Writer's workshop we will be learning about informational / descriptive writing.    We will be writing about and making a snowman!   We will continue our focus of starting with a capital letter, using ending punctuation, and leaving spaces between words!

Phonics:
We will continue to review and focus on all the common sounds that letters represent.  We will also review beginning consonant sounds and ending consonant sounds. 

Readers Workshop:
Next week we will finish up our unit on Super Readers and learn and review all of our super reading powers! We will learn about persistence power and book talk powers.  Ask your child what reading super powers they have! Practice reading your book bag books each night!


Math

In Math this week, we will start continue developing our understanding of teen numbers! We will work on representing out numbers in different ways. We will do lots of FUN stations to help us learn! 

On Friday, We FINISHED our Counting Keynote presentations, and we are SO proud! Your learners have worked SO hard to  show off their counting skills in their digital presentations. You can watch your child's Keynote by going to the Keynote app on their iPad! 




Social Studies

This week we will learn all about about Citizenship and what it means to be a good citizen. We will also continue to practice our letter formations in our Handwriting Without Tears Book.  This book goes along with a pilot program that some students are participating in called, Keyboarding Without Tears.  

Science

In science this week we will be beginning our unit all about Earth Materials! We will continue learning all about ROCKS and their properties. We will learn about their texture, size, shape, and how to classify them. Thank you for sending in your ROCK Collections!  It is not too late if you would still like to bring some rocks in to share!
