Week of September 7th - 10th

Welcome to our Kindergarten blog! Each week we will update this with important information, reminders, dates for your calendar, plus a peek into our week! Thank you for taking the time to read it.

What We Are Learning

Language Arts

In Writing Workshop this week we will begin to use labels (words) to tell part of our story!  As we create stories using pictures and words we will learn how labels help to give the reader more information about the writing!
In Reading Workshop we will continue to talk about how we are all readers and we can "Look, Think, Read, and LEARN!" We will talk about how readers can learn from books too and how re-reading helps us to learn more!
In Phonics we will continue to talk about the common sounds that letters represent! We are doing such a great job learning our letter sounds on our apple poem!

Math

In Math this week, we will be learning  about our counting  strategies. We will learn strategies  for counting a collection of  objects correctly. We will also set  up our Dreambox accounts. Dreambox is an app that we will use to practice all of our amazing Math skills! Your children are welcome to play on Dreambox at home, but it is not a requirement!

Science

In Science this week, we will continue learning about properties of objects. We will learn that objects can be sorted and classified by their properties (like size, color, shape, and texture). We will sort many different objects according to their properties.

Social Studies

In Social Studies this week we will continue to learn about "Me and My World." We will learn about authority figures in our homes, schools, and communities.

Thursday, September 2nd - Online shopping option opens!
Visit https://www.scholastic.com/bf/towncenterelementaryschool to purchase books that will be shipped directly to your house.
Both in-person and virtual learners can choose this option
Tuesday, September 7th - Shopping available in the TCE Library
For in-person learners only (families/visitors will not be able to attend)
We encourage you to use the eWallet feature. Instead of sending cash with your children, you can create an eWallet account and place a predetermined amount of money on the account for your children to shop the in person fair. To create an eWallet go to https://www.scholastic.com/bf/towncenterelementaryschool
Thanks for supporting book choice and TCE!

Breakfast

Breakfast is free for all elementary learners. If you would like for your child to get a breakfast from the cafeteria,  please have your child at school  between 7:20 and 7:25. This allows them plenty of time to eat breakfast in the cafeteria without missing any valuable class time!

Masks

Our Coppell ISD Board of Trustees has mandated masks at all indoor facilities in CISD until September 27th . Please talk to your child about the proper way to wear a mask and please send a mask with them to school each day.  For more information on COVID 19 protocols and masking, including the mask exemption form please click HERE!
