March 8th - 12th

What We Are Learning

Language Arts

In Reader's Workshop this week we will continue our unit on becoming an AVID Reader! We will focus on reading Non-Fiction this week!  Avid Readers love Non-Fiction books too.

VIRTUAL LEARNERS ONLY: We will NOT return book bag books and get new ones until after spring break. You will keep the books you have for the week of March 1st and the week of March 8th. During the week of March 8th I will cancel our Language Arts zoom meetings and set up a time to individually meet with Virtual Learners to Assess their reading skills.

Face to Face Learners ONLY:  your RED Book Bags will go home again after spring break! If you still have one at home please return it so I can empty it out and quarantine the books!

In Writer's Workshop we will practice "Once Upon A Time ...." writing just for fun!

Also, keep practicing your sigh words! Here is the most current list:

Library Day

Face to Face learners, please return books on Monday, March 8th in order to check out a new book. We will be going into the library for the first time to check out (YAY!!) so be sure to bring your book back!

Virtual learners, please click HERE for information on checking out a book from our library!
You can also listen to Mrs. Mancuso read a story in the library read aloud folder in Mrs. Torti's Reading and Writing Course! Enjoy!

Math

In Math this week, we will be finishing our unit on Money! We will continue to review the different types of coins in our American money system. We will know how to recognize each coin and what it's value is. We will talk about ways we can sort our money.
Here is one of our favorite money songs:

There will not be any Math Zoom lessons this week. Miss Rice will be setting up individual Zoom assessment times with virtual learners throughout the week to assess all of your amazing learning over the last nine weeks!!

Science

In Science this week, we are going to be discussing Living vs. Non-Living objects and how living things require resources to survive and non-living things do not. This week we will focus on living animals and their basic needs!
