October 7th - October 11th

What We're Working On:

Language Arts:

This week we will be starting some new Literacy / Social Studies Stations to review and independently practice many of the skills we have been working on in our readers and writer's workshops.  We are so excited to show you all of our great writing at conferences!

This week we will review our first 10 SNAP Words!!
We will do a little practice and a little assessment to see how many we know!
So far we have learned:
I, like, me, a, the, my, look, see, at, are
Please practice reading and writing these words at home!

Library Day is Monday! Bring your books!

Social Studies:

This week in Social Studies we will continue our unit called
"Our Country: Land that we LOVE!"
We will learn a little bit about Christopher Columbus and his trip to discover America!

Math:

In math this week, we will  learn about composing and decomposing numbers. We will learn that numbers can be broken a part in different ways. This is a crucial and foundational step to being able to add and subtract fluently! We are so excited about building these strong foundations!

Science:

This week we will be finishing our unit all about different types of ENERGY! This week we will wrap up by learning about sound energy. We will even design something that creates sound energy! We will become experts at finding sources of heat and sources of sound.
