September 16th - 20th

What We're Working On:

Language Arts:

In Language Arts we are have been working on learning and reviewing letter names and sounds!
We have learned 6 "SNAP" words so far: I, like, me, a, the, my
These words are high frequency words that we call snap words because now that we have learned them we can read and write them in a snap! Please practice reading and writing our 6 snap words at home!  We are going to spend this week reviewing our SNAP Words before we add new ones.

We will continue working on the difference between letters, words, and sentences.  We are putting letters together to make words and words together to make sentences.  We will keep working on our  "I like..." sentences in our journal  and we will keep practicing!

We are starting Reader's Workshop this week and we will talk about how books teach us about the world around us, how we are all readers, and we will learn about the three ways to read a book!

Social Studies:

This week in Social Studies we will continue our unit on Government!  Our unit is called "Me and My World."  This week our focus will be authority figures in our school, community, and world.

Math:

In math this week, we will discuss comparing numbers using words like "greater than" and "less than." We will play games and do hands on activities to practice comparing numbers. We will also celebrate Dot Day on Monday, September 16th with some fun and dotty math activities!!

Here are a few of our favorite counting and subitizing videos to practice at home:
