September 24th - 28th

What We're Working on This Week:

Language Arts

This week we will continue working on writing "I like" sentences in our journals.  We will learn two new word wall words: we / are.  We will also begin a new unit on rhyming words and Nursery Rhymes!  We will talk about word families and how rhyming words are in a word family.
We are loving our literacy stations and practicing the skills we are working on in class!

Social Studies

In social studies we will wrap up our unit of Me and My World!
We have learned so much about our homes, schools and communities!

Math

This week in math we are learning all about addition and subtraction with the numbers 0-5! We will be playing partner games and doing interactive stations to become fluent at composing and decomposing.

At home, we would love for you to continue practice counting, reading, comparing, and writing your numbers with your children! Thank you for encouraging this!

Science

In Science this week we are exploring how we can change matter! We will learn about how adding heat or taking away heat to some things (freezing and melting) can change it's physical properties! Want a fun activity to see this happen at home? Make popsicles with your child and watch a liquid FREEZE into a solid!

Library Day - Mondays

Students from all Kindergarten classes will go to library each Monday to return their old books and get new books!  Please help them to remember to put the library book in their backpacks on Sunday evenings so they can get a new book on Monday!  We have been learning about different types of books in the library, how to treat our books, and how to choose a good book!  This Monday we will learn how to use shelf markers to find books in the shelves!

Terrific Tiny Texans

Each week we will be spotlighting a special TCE Tiny Texan from each class. This is someone who we've seen going above and beyond and doing a fabulous job in class! They will get to be our line leader for the week, and they will get to fill out a STAR STUDENT poster to share during family meetings. This weeks texans are:
K1:  David Cooney
K2:  Ava Miller
K3: Torrance Mali
K4: Reyansh Awasthi

Fall Conferences

We are so happy that the district has given us a day to set aside for fall conferences this year! We look forward to meeting with all of you about the amazing things your child is doing in Kindergarten so far. During our Fall Conference, you will get information about your child's beginning of year assessments, how they are doing in class currently, and some resources you can work on at home with your child! You should have received a link to sign up for a Fall Conference from your child's homeroom teacher. If not, you can view the links here:
