Kindergarten news September 21-25

What We're Learning!!
Language Arts

Our two new wall words for the week are “said” and “a”.  Please help your child at home to ensure that they can read and spell the words each week. We will also be reading literature about Grandparents/ Special Friends. We are working on some cute things to share on Friday.
 Math

We will be continuing our unit on numbers by working with one to one correspondence, writing number quantities, and counting forward and backwards.  We are continuing with our daily math routine and we have added having number talks each day. During this time we are talking about patterns seen within numbers, quantities and different ways that we can represent and share our mathematical thinking.
*Every so often I will be posting on my Twitter a math challenge. We will be calling it a #mathcitychallenge. Please help your child complete the challenge and tag me in the picture!

Science/ Social Studies

Next week in science we will be exploring properties of paper through our FOSS kits! We will be observing and testing the different properties of wood and paper. If your career connects to this in any way, please let us know!

In Social Studies, we are learning a lot about ourselves and each other in our All About Me unit.
We will continue to learn and use our citizenship quality, Patriotism. ( honoring ones county)

Don’t forget that if your child is ill, you need to send a signed note to school AFTER your child returns.  This note must be within 5 days of your child’s return.  Also, please remember that your child must be fever/vomit free for 24 hours before they may return to school.  Thanks so much for helping us keep healthy in kindergarten!!
