What We're Learning!
Language Arts
We will review the word wall words we have learned so far. Your child should be able to recognize and spell the following words: a, can, I, like, see and said. Please help your child at home to ensure that they can read and spell the words each week.
We will be starting our handwriting next week. This will be a time that we will be focusing on forming our letters correctly as well as holding our pencils properly.

Our library day is on Tuesday. Please enjoy the library books that your child will bring home each week and then return them on Tuesday morning so that they will be able to check out a new book!
Math
We will be continuing our unit on numbers by working with counting different quantities and writing the amounts, talking about place value (1's and 10's), as well as working with representing numbers in new ways ( tally marks). Number talks have been going wonderful! We are able to share how we see things and learn from each other! During number talks, learners tell about the patterns they see within numbers, quantities and different ways that we can represent and share our mathematical thinking!
Don't forget to look on twitter for any math city challenges. This week I will be sending one out about sorting. This will help them with our data analysis that we will be working on each nine weeks. Please help your child complete the challenge and tag me (@kmckinney_cisd)
Science and Social Studies
Next week in science we will continue to explore weather as well as properties of wood and paper through our FOSS kit. We will observe different types of paper, conduct different experiments and discuss the different ways that we can help the environment through recycling. If your career connects to this in any way, please let us know! We would love make a career connection with the kids!
In Social Studies we will be learning about sequencing how things change over time. We will also be looking at positional words such as above, below, behind, beside, around, etc.
We will also be looking at the different adjectives that describe us!
We will continue to learn and use our citizenship quality, Patriotism. ( honoring ones county)

Please remember to send a snack with your child each day.
It should be something quick and easy to open. Also, the children may only have
water bottles in our classrooms. Please do not send juice for snack time. We
are trying desperately to keep our carpets clean. THANK YOU!!!
